Introducing our Research Sub-Committee
31 Mar 2024
LEA has recently established a Research Sub-Committee to coordinate the region’s research strategy. Our goal is to identify research priorities; identify aligned research activities from other organisations that could be shared with our membership; and to promote, develop, and coordinate closer ties with tertiary and industry institutions, and others involved in educational research.
We aim to foster engagement and dialogue about relevant research that will support evidence-based discussion and design and support dissemination via the website and other forums. Areas of interest we have identified include: inclusion; staff and student wellbeing; importance of collaboration; barriers to agency, involvement and participation; and shared language relating to open learning environments. We are keen to hear from you about any other areas of research which would support your work.
Given the ongoing public dialogue around open plan and innovative learning environments, we have made this one of our first priorities to work on. As well as gathering research and articles relating to “Open Plan Classroom” and “Innovative Learning Environments”, we will also shortly be reaching out to seek your understandings around these terms.
The Research Sub-Committee has representation from across the region and includes: Ekta Nathu (NZ), Fiona Young (NSW), Syaza Suraini (Malaysia), Jacinta Francis (WA), Scott Alterator (VIC), Scott Duncan (WA), Deb O’Riley (SA) and Beata Fuller (QLD).
