We advocate for innovative learning environments throughout Australasia, New Zealand and South East Asia. We focus on engaging the wider community by promoting better quality learning spaces within educational facilities (early learning centres, schools, universities, further education).

We are a not-for-profit organisation with a community of over 950 members within the education design, planning and building fields that promote the creation, design and development of contemporary and innovative learning environments.
We are an association that is international. We are a catalyst for improving learning environments worldwide and we speak in the ‘voice’ of those with whom we engage with, whilst embracing our JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) principles.
Our voice is always positive, approaching, confident, intelligent and passionate. Our members and stakeholders include individuals and organisations from within educational and design industries throughout Australasia, New Zealand and South East Asia.
The diversity of our membership and stakeholder base is the key to our success. No community can create an educational facility to support our students to learn without the participative work of all stakeholders.
We support our diverse membership base of architects, landscape architects, interior designers, project managers, school principals, business managers and educational administrators to positively contribute to the design of innovative, quality learning environments.
We have eight Chapters across the Australasia Region: ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, SA, TAS and New Zealand, with an affiliate Chapter in NT.
We are involved in conferences and facilitiate our prestigious Regional Learning Environments Australasia Design (LEAD) and Chapter Awards Programs that recognise superior design in learning environments, the curation of professional development events (some attracting CPD points) and publication development.
We are passionate about research and participate in regional research projects and our pinnacle research activity titled The Mayfield Project. This project engages our upcoming younger members and educators.
Alongside our International Organisation, the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), we recognise that organisations are stronger and more effective when they truly reflect the diverse populations they serve. A JEDI Sub-Committee has been established to provide leadership in furthering justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) for all LEA members and communities we support.
At a local level, our members are actively involved in planning, designing, building, equipping and maintaining learning environments that centre a community and enhance student achievement and results. The diverse line up of events incorporate several modalities and are focused on contemporary topics that are of interest to our members.
Each year our Annual Regional Conference exceeds expectations, drawing a diverse and international audience of +600 delegates. Attendees hail from prominent regions such as Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, USA and the UK, representing an array of professions pivotal to the evolution of teaching and learning environments.
These delegates represent diverse professions integral to the advancement of teaching and learning environments.
