How will the Mayfield Project be run in 2024-2025?

  • Wednesday 13 November 2024: ONLINE @ 4.30 pm AEST (6.30 pm NZDT/2.30 pm AWST)
    This will be a startup session to meet one another and the facilitators, discuss the program, and get an understanding of what sort of activities will be happening in the coming months. It will last approximately 1.5 hours.
  • Thursday 21 – Friday 22 November 2024: ADELAIDE – OPTIONAL ACTIVITY
    The Regional Day Out is LEA’s one-day conference. We encourage participants to consider attending the conference to connect with other Mayfielders, learn a little more about LEA, and enjoy professional learning in an informal and dynamic environment. Attendance it this event would be at participant’s own cost.
  • End November 2024 – End February 2025: Case Study Activities: ONLINE AND F2F
    Mayfielders will be able to connect to undertake preliminary case study research as a foundation for the weekend workshop experience. We anticipate this would amount to approximately 10 hours across the three-month period.
  • Thursday 27 February 2025 – Sunday 2 March 2025: SYDNEY
    Mayfielders will arrive in Sydney late on the Thursday to participate in a 2.5-day, face-to-face workshop held over the weekend.
  • Mid-March 2025 – End April 2025: ONLINE @ 4.30 pm AEST (6.30 pm NZDT/2.30 pm AWST)
    Participants will continue to drive the project through fortnightly online, self-directed group collaboration in preparation for the 2025 LEA Annual Regional Conference presentation and project deliverable. It is anticipated that these sessions would be approximately 2 hours; however, work to progress the project would continue between structured sessions.
  • Tuesday 6 May 2025 – Friday 9 May 2025: BRISBANE CONFERENCE
    Participants will arrive in Brisbane early on Tuesday and spend the day finalising the group’s conference presentation. Mayfielders will attend the conference from Wednesday to Friday and present their findings to the delegates in a dedicated session.
  • May 2025 – June 2026 ONGOING
    Mayfielders will be expected to engage with their local Chapter and will be given the opportunity to sit on Chapter and Regional Subcommittees. They will be provided with an LEA membership to allow them to attend events over the following twelve months, including running a dedicated session at a Chapter level discussing the activities and outcomes of their Mayfield experience.

Participants will present the group’s findings at the 2025 LEA Annual Regional Conference in Brisbane in May 2025. This in-person presentation will be accompanied by producing a tangible tool or resource available for purchase on The Mayfield Project website.

In the latter half of 2025, participants will be able to share their learnings and experiences with their local LEA Chapter level. To better understand recent participants’ achievements, head to the 2023 Mayfield Project Authentic Engagement Toolkit.

Learning Environments Australasia will pay for flights and accommodation to attend the face-to-face weekend workshop in Sydney and the 2025 LEA Annual Regional Conference “LEA 3001: A Learning Space Odyssey” in Brisbane.

Participants of The Mayfield Project will be eligible for the “Young Professionals” rate to attend the Annual Regional Conference (LEA 3001: A Learning Space Odyssey) in Brisbane. The full registration fee for Young Professionals is expected to range between $800 and $1,100. LEA will cover 50% of this cost, with the remaining 50% to be paid by the Mayfielder. The final registration rate will be confirmed by December 2024.

Participants will be required to pay for meals, local travel and incidental costs during their stays in Adelaide in November 2024 (optional), Sydney in March 2025 and Brisbane in May 2025.

Participants will also receive a complimentary 20-month membership to their local Learning Environments Australasia Chapter from November 2024 – June 2026.

As the early phase of this project will involve time spent in schools, we highly recommend that participants obtain a Working with Vulnerable People/Working with Children Check in their relevant state or territory. This is a mandatory requirement in a number of jurisdictions, and it is the responsibility of applicants to determine the rules as they apply to their home state. Any associated costs are the responsibility of individual participants.

Submission Deadline
Your application consists of three components:

  1. This completed EOI form
  2. Your resume/CV (1 page)
  3. Your cover letter, addressing the 3 criteria (1 page)

Please write a cover letter outlining your reasons for wanting to be part of The Mayfield Project, addressing the following criteria:

  1. Particular interest in learning and learning environments
  2. Evidence of a commitment to learning and enrichment of your personal and professional practice
  3. Outline how your personal and professional experience will benefit the Mayfield Project

Cover letter to be no more than 1 x A4 page, with a maximum of 250 words per criteria and completed on the same day as this EOI.

It is imperative that all three components are submitted on the same day. Your completed EOI form has a submit button on the final page and you will have the option to receive an email copy of this EOI. Your resume/CV and cover letter is to be emailed to: mayfield@learningenvironments.org.au 

If all 3 components are not submitted on the same day, this may result in your application not being considered by the panel.

Resume/CV Requirements
Your resume/CV should be concise and informative, not exceeding one A4 page. Please ensure it showcases your relevant experience and qualifications effectively.

Cover Letter Specifications
Your cover letter is a crucial component of your application. It should address specific criteria outlined in the application process, including your interest in learning environments, your commitment to personal and professional development, and how your experiences align with the goals of The Mayfield Project.

The cover letter should also be no longer than one A4 page, with a maximum of 250 words per criterion.
