Unifying the community: Barker College Prep School visit
27 Feb 2019
The NSW Chapter launched their 2019 calendar of events at the recently opened Prep School at Barker College.
Over 60 people came to tour the PMDL designed building which explores collaborative and experiential learning. Plus they had a bit of fun along the way too.
Barker College described how the building has assisted in unifying their community by enabling their parents to join their children at important milestone events. Further to this, the continual staff development and workplace culture has improved significantly since joining the main campus.
In short, you know you're on a winner when the security officer tells people about how they enjoy walking through the building to lock it up of an evening.
Our NSW partner, Interface took us through their process of assessing the carbon footprint of the carpet in the building. They took a comprehensive approach which includes their supply chain and then the extra step to purchase carbon credits to offset any impact from their flooring. Both the architect and the College were awarded a certificate in recognition.
Overall, it was a stellar start to 2019 in NSW. Watch this space for more updates on the year ahead.
