2027 BELONGING Conference, Sydney | Gadigal Country
14 May 2026
Connect, design, learn
What does it really mean to belong?
In May 2027, more than 700 educators, architects, designers, researchers, school leaders and changemakers from across Australia and around the world will gather in Sydney | Gadigal Country for the 25th Annual Learning Environments Australasia Conference, and the theme could not be more timely.
2027 BELONGING is more than a conference theme. It is a conversation about the spaces we create, the cultures we shape, and the human connections that define learning.
Hosted by the New South Wales Chapter of Learning Environments Australasia, 2027 BELONGING will transform the Sydney International Convention Centre into a vibrant hub of ideas, collaboration and inspiration from Wednesday 7 – Friday 9 May 2027.
Across three immersive days, delegates will experience internationally recognised keynote speakers, bold provocations, future focused case studies, hands on workshops, curated learning tours and powerful opportunities to connect with peers who are shaping the future of education and learning environments.
The 2027 program will explore how design can strengthen wellbeing, inclusion, curiosity and connection, because when people feel they belong, learning flourishes.
The conference already features an exciting line up of renowned voices including budding designer and comedian Tim Ross, cultural futurist Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie, education transformation leader Dr Michael Anderson and innovative school principal Kerrie McDiarmid.
At the same time, LEA is now calling for abstract submissions from educators, designers, researchers and practitioners who want to contribute to the conference program and help shape the conversations that matter most.
Whether you are passionate about pedagogy, learning space design, student voice, wellbeing, inclusion, creativity or the role of play in learning, 2027 BELONGING invites you to share your ideas, challenge perspectives and inspire others.
This will be a conference designed not just to inform, but to energise.
A conference where conversations continue long after sessions end.
A conference where belonging is not only discussed.....it is experienced.
Abstract submissions are now open and close at 4:00pm (NSW time) on Friday 31 July 2026.
Explore the program, meet the speakers, submit your abstract and discover what’s ahead for 2027 BELONGING via the conference website.
