2027 BELONGING Call for Abstracts Now Open
19 Jun 2026
What does it truly mean to create environments where people feel they belong?
Learning Environments Australasia is now inviting abstract submissions for the concurrent program of our 25th Annual Conference, 2027 BELONGING, taking place in Sydney | Gadigal Country in May 2027.
Bringing together more than 700 educators, architects, designers, researchers, planners, school leaders and industry professionals, BELONGING will explore how people, place and purpose create environments where everyone can thrive.
We are seeking engaging, thought-provoking and practical presentations that align with one or more of our conference sub-themes:
CONNECT
- How can our places, cultures and communities foster genuine connection between people, ideas and the wider world?
DESIGN
- How do physical, pedagogical, social and professional environments shape belonging?
LEARN
- How do we create learning experiences and professional practices that invite every person to participate fully?
We welcome submissions from across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand and around the globe, including:
- Research projects
- Case studies
- School or organisational initiatives
- Innovative practices
- Lived experiences
- Emerging ideas
We are particularly interested in sessions that explore the role of play as a cornerstone of learning, wellbeing, connection and belonging.
Successful presentations will be interactive, engaging and provide delegates with practical takeaways they can apply in their own contexts.
Key Dates
- Abstract submissions close: 11.59pm AEST Sunday 2 August 2026
- Notification of outcomes: Friday 28 August 2026
