What is an ACRM? And, why does it matter?

You may have seen the words Annual Chapter Review Meeting, or acronym ACRM in LEA communications, but what exactly is it? And, why is it important?
An Annual Chapter Review Meeting (ACRM) is the annual meeting held by each LEA Chapter to report back to its members on the Chapter’s activities and performance over the preceding financial year.
It is an important part of how all our Chapters remain transparent, accountable and connected to their members, providing an opportunity to look back at the year that was and ensure members are informed about what is happening within their Chapter.
This year, four Chapters will be calling for nominations for Chapter Office Bearer roles as part of their ACRM process:
- LEA Tasmania Chapter
- LEA Western Australia Chapter, 18 August 2026
- LEA New South Wales Chapter, 27 August 2026
- LEA Queensland Chapter

What happens at an ACRM?
Each Chapter holds an ACRM annually after 1 July and before LEA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), generally held in November. The meeting provides members with an update on key areas including:
- Celebrations of successes and achievements for the Chapter
- Chapter finances, including income, expenditure and performance against budget
- Sponsorship arrangements
- Events and activities delivered during the year
- Membership numbers
- Matters requiring a vote by Chapter members.
Importantly, the ACRM also forms part of LEA’s established governance requirements for all Chapters. While our Chapters operate locally, they form part of the broader LEA organisation, and holding an ACRM each year helps ensure there is a consistent and transparent approach across our Chapter network.
Chapter Office Bearers – Call for Nominations for Chapter leadership
Every two years, or earlier where a vacancy needs to be filled, the ACRM also includes the election of the Chapter’s Office Bearer positions: Chair, Chair Elect, Treasurer and Secretary.
When these positions are due, nominations are called from all Chapter LEA members ahead of the ACRM. Where more than one nomination is received for a position, members have the opportunity to vote.
This process gives members a direct voice in who represents and leads their Chapter, while also creating opportunities for new people to become involved in LEA leadership.
More Than a Meeting
Ultimately, the ACRM is about more than meeting an annual requirement. It provides an important point each year for accountability, member participation and good Chapter governance, and helps ensure our Chapters continue to be member led, sustainable and connected to the wider LEA community.
