This year’s theme was ‘Emergency Response to Change’ – investigating natural, economic, political, social and climatic challenges to the provision of educational facilities.
The participants of the Mayfield Project 2012 presented twice in 2012 – in June at the Gold Coast and in November in Melbourne.
Gold Coast Presentation
The Group presentation at the Gold Coast centred on the disaster management cycle and the ways schools could, and have, responded on the below topics:
- Introduction to Emergency Response
- Detention Centres in Adelaide
- Redevelopment of a bushfire ravaged community in Kinglake
- Working with a developed country in Matipwili, Tanzania
- Child-led Disaster Education
Melbourne Presentation
In November 2012, three groups presented their findings on creating Schools as Sanctuaries of Hope:
- A Safe Place
- Hope
