As a founding member of the Learning Environments New Zealand Chapter, Jacque Allen has played a pivotal role in shaping the identity, direction, and growth of Learning Environments across Aotearoa. Over more than twelve years of uninterrupted service, Jacque has made sustained, meaningful, and far reaching contributions at Chapter, National, and Regional levels.
Jacque’s leadership has been a defining constant for LENZ. Her long standing service on both the LENZ Chapter and LEA Council, her term as LENZ Chapter Chair, her role as Regional Conference Convenor, and her current leadership of the DEI SubCommittee demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing our organisation’s mission.
Her tenure as LENZ Chapter Chair (2019–2021) fell during one of the most challenging periods in recent history. Navigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jacque led with resilience and adaptability, ensuring the Chapter continued to thrive when in person connection was not possible.
She championed the shift to online events and webinars, reinvigorated our strategic direction, and initiated a meaningful partnership with indigenous experts to develop an authentically Māori name, identity, and vision graphic for the Chapter. This work continues to shape our Chapter’s cultural grounding and strategic purpose today.
As Convenor of the Christchurch Regional Conference 2023, planned twice due to pandemic disruption, Jacque demonstrated exceptional determination and leadership. Despite major challenges, she delivered a highly successful and impactful event that strengthened professional learning, connection, and dialogue across the region.
Jacque’s strengths are broad and deeply valued: she forges strong professional relationships, brings strategic clarity, advances the conversation on innovative learning environments, and works tirelessly to champion educational outcomes and the environments that support them. Her dedication to LENZ and LEA is unwavering.
In recognition of her long and dedicated service, her leadership through significant organisational milestones, her major contribution to regional events, and her lasting impact on the growth and initiatives of LENZ and LEA, we are honoured to have Jacque as a Life Member of Learning Environments Australasia.
