For more than three decades, Laurence Robinson has played a significant and sustaining role in shaping the design of educational environments across Victoria and in strengthening LEA through his long standing leadership and service.
Joining LEA in 2007, Laurence quickly became a trusted and steady presence within the Victorian Chapter and the Australasian Region, contributing sixteen years of continuous governance, financial stewardship, and strategic oversight.
Laurence’s tenure as Victorian Chapter Treasurer and later as Regional Treasurer was marked by his integrity, diligence, and unwavering commitment to the organisation’s stability and growth.
His guidance ensured sound financial management through periods of expansion, transition, and increasing program complexity. Laurence’s calm, measured leadership style earned the respect of colleagues across the region and provided a foundation on which LEA has continued to thrive.
Alongside his organisational service, Laurence has made a profound contribution to the educational design sector. With over 35 years in architectural practice and nearly two decades as a Director at Brand Architects, he has championed learning environments that are inclusive, sustainable, pedagogically attuned, and deeply connected to community needs. His work on projects reflects a commitment to universal design, environmental responsibility, and student and educator wellbeing.
Laurence’s influence extends beyond project delivery through his involvement in research, policy discussion, and international knowledge exchange, from representing Victoria on ministerial delegations, to contributing to the ARC Linkage project on diversity and inclusion in learning spaces.
In recognition of his long and distinguished service, his leadership across Chapter and Regional levels, and his enduring contribution to the advancement of educational architecture, LEA is proud to honour Laurence Robinson with Life Membership.
