Vale John Sewell (04/03/1942 – 11/07/2025). It is with great sadness that LEA advises of the passing of John.
John has been a CEFPI member since September 2000. His engagement with CEFPI began through participation and attendance at a number of CEFPI World conferences, but expanded to become an active contributor to the development of CEFPI into the Australasian Region, including the Victorian Chapter.
His critical contribution to the establishment of CEFPI Australasia has been demonstrated through John’s tireless efforts in consulting and coordinating with CEFPI leaders in the USA, to manage the many financial and governance policies and procedures. As a result of John’s contribution CEFPI Australasia has developed into the present day thriving organisation, with a healthy and sustainable membership.
John is particularly recognised for his pivotal role in navigating the new fiscal and governance arrangements for the Australasian Region, which culminated in financial independence in 2010. This included his critical role in establishing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Australasian Region and the Headquarters of CEFPI in the USA, as well as the associated policies and procedures.
John’s financial leadership and governance prowess have not only been demonstrated at the Australasian level, but also with the Victorian Chapter. As Treasurer at both National & Chapter level he has provided financial governance for several Australasian Regional conferences, including when hosted by the Victorian Chapter in 2008.
