Learning Environments Australasia bestows its highest honour, Life Membership to Andrew Pender, in recognition of long and dedicated service and outstanding contribution to leadership.
Andrew has made significant contributions to the growth of LEA at Chapter, Regional and International levels.
At the Chapter level, Andrew played an instrumental role in setting up the NSW Chapter in 2007 and subsequently became the first NSW Chapter President/Chair from 2007-2009.
Following his tenure as Chair, Andrew continued to support NSW Chapter in his role as Past Chair and involvement in both Regional and International boards.
At Regional level, Andrew’s significant contributions as Regional Chair included:
- Development of the LEA website
- Development of the member database
- Awards program
- At various strategic policy levels (nationally and internationally)
- Various industry conference presentations
During his role as international board member in 2016-2019, Andrew strongly represented the Australasian voice within the broader vision of expanding A4LE internationally.
In addition to serving as Australasia’s global board representative, Andrew served on two association-wide strategic planning and board committee, which led to the formulation of a new global structure for the association.
Andrew’s long list of service positions within Learning Environments Australasia is testament to someone who passionately advocates for better learning environments and promoted the Association at every level he could.
Andrew continues to inspire many in the association, internationally, regionally and at chapter level. He has presented at numerous conferences, provided mentorship and encouragement to future leaders, and demonstrated with integrity the true values of Learning Environments Australia and the wider A4LE international community.
