Project Overview
Jones Sonter were commissioned to design a new Great Hall + Aquatic Centre at Knox Grammar School, with an multi-purpose hall accommodating 2500 people, 3 basketball courts, a 50m competition pool, learn to swim pool & gymnasium facilities. The space was required to meet the daily requirements of a school’s sports facilities and deliver a sense of occasion for major school events, with a capacity to hold the entire school’s student body under one roof. The building’s design acknowledges the school’s modern requirements, whilst complementing its history and desired aesthetics. Officially opened on 16 August 2011, the building was the 6th infrastructure project in the state to receive authorisation from the Coordinator General under the National Building and Jobs Plan (State Infrastructure Delivery) Act 2009.
