Project Overview
The project design response required construction of 6 new classrooms (62-68sqm ea) within a 2-storey building annex. Integration of the new facilities required redevelopment of an existing learning common, classrooms, library and staff areas
A strong conviction was articulated by the school board, that new works complement existing typologies present on campus (single level, single fronted cluster brick (red) structure with matching clay roof tiles). The site for construction was 0.056 ha lot as the west side of school campus adjacent to property boundary and tennis courts.
“The new building has provided for the school a more flexible arrangement for learning. Classrooms are spacious and allow teachers greater opportunity to work in a team environment with the option to close doors when needed.”
“The more flexible option is conducive to collaboration and allows classes to work together enabling teachers to provide learning experiences for the children that are engaging and creative.” “The overall flexible nature of the building has provided teachers with the space to effectively integrate 21st century learning in our school.” Principal Tony McMahon.
