Project Overview
The Rosebery Middle Schools is located adjacent to RoseberyPrimary school on a 15ha greenfield site in the new suburb of Rosebery. The schools cater for 550 primary students and 900 middle school students.
The buildings are designed to accommodate and support new ways of teaching and learning which focus on individual students and utilizing team teaching, group learning and individual study.
Learning spaces are fl exible, adaptable and permeable to the outside. Large sliding doors allow learning areas to be adjusted to make open connected spaces or closed down to make smaller individual areas. Breakout rooms provide space for small groups and one on one activities. Students and teachers move between spaces or adapt the spaces to suit the activity and learning methods employed.
The home space plan shape allows for traditional teacher to blackboard learning while the connecting open areas are more dynamic, reflecting the variety of learning styles employed. High level windows bathe the centre of the neighborhoods in light and low level windows provide natural ventilation.
External areas are integral to the learning environment, verandahs extend into garden rooms and vegetable gardens are a part of each community.
