Project Overview
Redevelopment of early childhood, primary and secondary schools into unified campus including new works and refurbishment of existing buildings for a total design population 1800 students.
This project has developed a single school from the three existing schools that provided education and care for children from age 3 to year 12. It included refurbishment of some of the school’s existing facilities to support an internationally focused program of studies that incorporates contemporary information technologies and is environmentally sustainable.
It has provided additional facilities to cater for the college’s expanding student population and provide services for children in the aged 3 to year 2 levels.
Also included are facilities to extend the vocational education program of the school, to cater for students with special needs across the school and additional facilities to expand the performing arts and sports programs of the school.
The project provided
- New accommodation included a Child Parent Centre
- Refurbishment of existing junior primary and primary learning areas
- Partial refurbishment of existing middle/senior school learning areas
- Provision of a commercial kitchen to support the delivery of vocational education
- Refurbishment of one of the existing administration buildings to provide the DECS standard provision of administration facilities, suitable for a Reception to year 12 school
- A refurbishment of the remaining administration building to create a staff room and other professional services facilities
- New middle school accommodation
- Consolidated Resource Centre
- Demolition of transportable accommodation across the site
The work included a new site master plan which reorganised the main site entries and examined a number of options for reuse and refurbishment of existing spaces.
The staging of the project was extremely complex, with the builder requiring access to new buildings located across the whole site whilst allowing access for the 1800 students; and carefully staged completions to allow relocations between new and refurbished areas.
