Call for submissions: Global High School Prize 2012
16 May 2012
Over the past 4 years, through the Zayed Future Energy Prize, the United Arab Emirates has been honoring those who are committed to advancing renewable energy and sustainable technologies globally. One of the greatest unifying challenges in the world today is addressing climate change, promoting sustainable development and encouraging innovation in renewable energy technologies.
In 2012, the Zayed Future Energy Prize announced the creation of the Global High School Prize. It aims to encourage future generations to think outside the box, develop their sense of innovation and in the process – understand the practicalities of living a sustainable life.
The Global High School Prize awards USD 100 000 to each of the five high schools selected from different regions (Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia and Oceania).
High schools from around the world are invited to submit a business case for how they plan to utilise the prize for the purpose of raising awareness of sustainability and reducing the school’s environmental footprint. High schools are asked to submit projects based on one or more of the three objectives of the UN Sustainable Energy for All Initiative: Energy Access, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
The deadline for submissions is 16 July 2012.
