CEFPI scoops the pool at WA Institute of Architects Awards

Well done to our CEFPI members for their numerous awards in the recent 2015 WA Architecture Awards. It is heartening to see the importance placed on architecture within the education realm, especially with the introduction this year of a new category – the Hillson Beasley Award for Educational Architecture. In its first year, 15 projects were nominated, from 12 firms, seven of whom are affiliated with CEFPI. CEFPI member firms managed to scoop four of the final five awards in this category – a sure testament to the value of CEFPI in achieving educational and architectural outcomes.

Congratulations to the inaugural winner of this category, Taylor Robinson for the Scotch College Middle School, as visited by CEFPI WA members in 2013. Two Architecture Awards in this category were presented to Broderick Architects & CODA Joint Venture for Bunbury Catholic College – Marist Campus Learning Commons, and to Bateman Architects for Churchlands Senior High School, Year 7 Integration into Senior High School Project. A commendation was awarded to MCDF Architects for Presbyterian Ladies’ College – Library and Cafeteria Additions.

Additionally, MCDF Architects (for the University of Notre Dame Bateman’s Courtyard Amenities) and Taylor Robinson (for Wesley College Ward & Kefford Refurbishment) were awarded commendations in the Margaret Pitt Morison Award for Heritage category, and Site Architecture (for Mary Davies Library and Community Centre) was awarded a commendation in the Wallace Greenham Award for Sustainable Architecture category.
