Anne Knock from SCIL, the innovation centre at Northern Beaches Christian School regularly hosts tours for professionals to the UK and Europe. She has an extensive knowledge of education context and a wide network of people to talk about learning and school design from their context.
Where shall we go?
Winter in Scandinavia is a remarkable experience. This tour will focus on three Nordic countries that have their own distinct flavour, within a culture of design. The focus of the tour is not just school, but places where learning and work occur - libraries, museums, universities, co-working hubs and workplaces.

Finland
- Presentation from Reino Tapinen, Chief Architect, Finnish National Board of Education
- School visits Espoo
- Design Factory at Aalto University, Helsinki
- Heuraka Science Centre
Copenhagen
- Schools, such as Hellerup and Orestad
- Visit to Orestad urban development, including 8Tallet project
- Free day on Saturday to explore Copenhagen
Sweden (day trip from Copenhagen)
- Kunskapsskolan and refurbished school sites in Malmo and Landskona
Amsterdam
- Architect-led walk, including EYE Film Institute, City Library and Conservatorium
- NEMO Science Centre
Delft (day trip from Amsterdam)
- TU Delft Library - tour
- DOK Community Library
Geneva (optional)
- Rolex Learning Centre – tour
