Discovering an enriched learning environment at Willetton Senior High School
17 Apr 2018
The first LE WA site visit of 2018 saw almost 40 people turn up for a tour of the new additions to Willetton Senior High School. Willetton Senior High School is a leading academic government secondary school accommodating 2300 students and over 300 staff.
The new buildings provide a larger scale to the campus which is more appropriate to the population of the school and the master plan saw the opening up of spaces between buildings, providing wider transition spaces and usable external learning spaces.
The choice of materials and finishes of the new buildings matched the existing palette, integrating the new buildings well within the campus. Splashes of colour were used to assist with wayfinding and give each building its own identity.
It was fantastic to hear the impromptu feedback from staff and students during the visit. It seemed everyone we bumped into on the day only had great things to say about how the new additions have enriched their learning environment, not only for the students but also as inspiration for teachers to collaborate and innovate.
