‘Innovative Spaces and Pedagogy’ – University of Melbourne subject offered Semester 2, 2012.

What do innovative learning environments look like? How can innovative spaces best be utilised by students and teachers? Can collaboration between teachers and designers improve learning environments and pedagogical approaches?

EDUC90728 Innovative Spaces and Pedagogy is a Master of Education subject that has been co-developed with Architecture and can be undertaken as part of a higher degree or as a ‘one-off’ subject with the university’s Community Access Program (CAP). This exciting subject will tackle a variety of issues during four ‘intensive’ weekend sessions during Semester 2, 2012. Co-taught by Education and Architecture staff, the activities will include a site visit to an exemplar school, to an architecture studio, and hands-on design and pedagogy workshops. MEd and MArch students will work in collaborate teams developing mutual understandings that make effective the design, occupancy and pedagogical use of innovative learning spaces.
