Vale Alex Raynes-Goldie, A Cherished Mayfielder and LEA Community Member
24 May 2026
The Learning Environments Australasia community is deeply saddened by the passing of former Mayfielder and WA Chapter member, Alex Raynes-Goldie.
Alex participated in The 2018 Mayfield Project, joining a cohort of emerging professionals from across Australia and New Zealand exploring the themes of Reflection, Relevance and Revolution. At the time, Alex was a Senior Policy Officer with Building Management & Works at the Department of Finance in Western Australia and was known for her thoughtful contribution, creativity and collaborative spirit.
An active member of the WA Chapter for several years, Alex later stepped away from volunteer commitments to focus on her professional and family life. She leaves behind her husband and young daughter, Sara.
Alex’s sister, Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie, a keynote speaker for LEA’s 2027 BELONGING Conference, shared a moving tribute this week, remembering Alex as “fierce, and tough and smart,” with a deep love for sustainability, adventure and creativity.
Kate will dedicate her 2027 BELONGING keynote presentation to the memory of her beloved sister Alex.
On behalf of Learning Environments Australasia, we extend our deepest condolences to Alex’s family, friends, colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her contribution to our community, and the impact she made on those around her, will not be forgotten.
