LEWA p[r]ep research project Stage Two

Learning Environments WA (LEWA) is contributing to, engaging with, and building on research into learning environments in a West Australian context. Stage One of p[r]ep started with a Collaborative Workshop held online on 27 May 2020 and an online survey of the LEWA community asked about their areas of expertise, and interests in research.

The response indicated that many within the LEWA community work across multiple fields and disciplines and are interested in exploring creativity and innovation, sustainable design, learning approaches, lifelong learning, and planning for the future.

The outcome? We identified research topics which can be looked at through a design-oriented or use-oriented lens, allowing flexibility within future projects and provide opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborative research projects. Excitingly, these topics are broad, Stage 2 will explore these topics further and define the future postgraduate research projects.

Stage Two of p[r]ep - is a Focus Workshop to be held online in October, 2020. Participants will be asked to share their ideas and experiences of issues critical to Learning Environment research. These issues emerged from p[r]ep Stage One and will be explored. We encourage participants from the diverse range of backgrounds and interest to get involved and contribute to the direction of future multidisciplinary collaborative research projects.

Alongside this Focus Workshop, we are asking the LEWA community to share their experiences, practices, and projects, to inform the direction of local research. A survey is available where you can tell the story of your project and the innovative approach taken to design and/or teaching. You can explain what you, and others, have learnt from this project, and how it has changed practices. Photos of your learning environments, teaching activities and projects can be uploaded when completing the survey. These projects will become part of the p[r]ep resources to be used as examples of current practices and potential case studies for future research.

We’d love to hear from you. This research is by local WA educators and designers, for the benefit of the broader education and design community. If you weren’t able to join us at the workshop, don’t worry. There will be other opportunities to get involved and register your interest. Soon, we will be asking the LEWA community to share their experiences, practices, and projects, to inform the direction of local research.
