International Women’s Day 2026: Celebrating the Women of the LEA Community
06 Mar 2026
Across the Learning Environments Australasia community, there are countless women contributing their expertise, leadership and passion to shaping the future of learning environments. From educators and architects to designers, researchers, volunteers and leaders, women across our network continue to influence the spaces where learning happens and the communities those spaces serve.
On International Women’s Day 2026, LEA proudly joins the global community in recognising the importance of gender equality and celebrating the collective efforts of women everywhere who are working to create positive change.
Within LEA, we are fortunate to have an extraordinary group of women who contribute their time, talent and insight to our organisation. Our volunteers, chapter and executive teams, educators, architects, designers, researchers, sponsors and staff all play an important role in strengthening our community and advancing the conversation around innovative learning environments.
Their leadership helps guide the direction of our organisation. Their generosity fosters collaboration and connection across our network. Their advocacy continues to influence the design and development of learning environments that support future generations of learners.
International Women’s Day has been observed since 1911 and belongs to everyone who believes in human rights and gender parity. It is a reminder that meaningful progress happens through collective action and shared responsibility.
For those of us working in education and the design of learning environments, the message is particularly powerful. The spaces we create - within our schools, workplaces and communities - should reflect equity, inclusion and opportunity for all. When these values are embedded in the environments we design and the communities we nurture, they become foundational rather than aspirational.
Today, we recognise and celebrate the women who are part of the LEA community. Your work, leadership and dedication continue to strengthen our organisation and inspire those around you.
To every woman within Learning Environments Australasia: thank you. Your contributions matter, your voices are valued and your impact is felt across our community every day.
Together, we will continue to imagine, design and build a more inclusive future.
