Global Connections, Local Impact
16 Jul 2025
In June 2025, the International Board of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) gathered in Louisville, Kentucky for a dynamic three day face to face meeting focused on shaping the future of our global organisation.
Top of the agenda was refining A4LE’s strategic plan to better support our growing international network. Key discussions centred on expanding educator membership, broadening global reach, and strengthening access to professional learning - both in person and online.
From podcasts to practical resources, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to meaningful, accessible support for members worldwide.
As part of our time in Louisville, Board members also took part in a hands on service project with Family Scholar House, a transformative organisation working to end the cycle of poverty through education, career coaching, and holistic support for single parent families.
From landscaping to packing care kits, the volunteer experience was a powerful reminder of the impact of community driven action, closely aligned with A4LE’s values.
Outside of the boardroom, we enjoyed some uniquely Louisville experiences, including a local baseball game and bourbon tasting (opinions varied!), creating moments for informal connection and reflection.
The meeting was not only productive but energising. While every A4LE region faces its own challenges, we found strong common ground in our shared goals and commitment to innovation.
The insights and initiatives sparked in Louisville will help guide our next chapter as we continue to advocate for outstanding learning environments across the globe.
