Call for Abstracts! 2025 Symposium Inclusive Design for Learning Spaces
11 Feb 2025
Our friends over at the Designing Learning Spaces for Diversity, Inclusion and Participation ARC Linkage Project wanted you to know that the 2025 Symposium: Inclusive Design for Learning Spaces is now calling for abstracts!
With early learning, school, and higher education organisations worldwide striving to create more inclusive environments, this symposium will explore how the built environment can contribute to a more equitable educational experience. What existing knowledge can be leveraged for immediate impact? What new research is needed to better accommodate the diverse needs of students and educators?
The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning (University of Melbourne) is hosting this three-day event from 10 - 12 November 2025, which will bring together academics, practitioners, and those with lived experience to share knowledge on designing inclusive learning spaces.
- Days 1 & 2: A research-focused academic symposium, fostering discussion and collaboration on inclusive design.
- Day 3: A public-facing event celebrating lived experiences and sharing evidence-informed approaches to accessibility.
The organisers are particularly keen to hear from established academics, PhD candidates, design practitioners, and evaluators, as well as those with lived experience who can provide valuable perspectives on inclusive learning spaces.
Selected authors will also have the opportunity to develop their ideas further for inclusion in an edited book following the symposium.
Deadline for submissions: 28 February 2025
