Learning Environments WA members win at the West Australian AIA Awards
17 Nov 2016
Congratulations to the five award winners in the Education category of the Australian Institute of Architects' WA Chapter Awards. All five award-winning firms within this category are members of Learning Environments Western Australia, recognising the great work of our members within the industry.
Congratulations to Parry and Rosenthal Architects for winning the Hillson Beasley Award for Educational Architecture for Mother Theresa Catholic College.
The jury appreciated the 'honest use of materials, appropriate scale and subtle manipulation of space and ground plane [that] have resulted in a project that offers the community a warm, welcoming, place for children to thrive. The arrangement of learning spaces around a central play area provides a sense of being part of a small community, and the intimate scale of built form creates a relaxed, non-institutional environment.'
Other category winners were:
- Architecture Award: Ngoolark Student Services, Edith Cowan University Joondalup by JCY Architects & Urban Designers
- Commendation: Bunbury Catholic College Mercy Campus by Broderick Architects and CODA Studio
- Commendation: Hale Junior School Arts Building by Site Architecture Studio
- Commendation: Year 7 Teaching Facility, John Curtin College of the Arts by JCY Architects & Urban Designers
Well done to all entrants, who now progress to the National Awards.
