Tasmanian Chapter – Conference Reflections

On Thursday 6 July at the Hobart Library, Tasmanian members and guests enjoyed many reflections and insights given by Cath Kilner and Tim Hodge from this year’s 21st Annual Regional Conference re:Activate - generating a city of learning.
Cath’s overview of her involvement in the The Mayfield Project program generated an extensive discussion using the inclusion design card set the Mayfield group created. Attendees appreciated how the cards sympathetically lead to important explorations of these issues.
Tim highlighted issues of the ongoing re-occupation and rebuilding of the Christchurch CBD along with observations from site visits to several new schools. Tim’s photos clearly showed how learners have engaged with their new learning environments which often pointed to design strategies in contrast with Tasmanian examples. Many thanks to Cath and Tim for their stimulating event.
