On 27 March 2025 nearly 60 guests gathered at Xavier College’s historic Kew campus to explore the newly completed Kostka Building, an impressive new home for Year 7 and 8 students designed by MGS Architects.
As a key part of the College’s ongoing campus transformation, the building features a vertical learning street, connected neighbourhoods, and strong visual ties to the surrounding landscape.
“The framing of the landscape through the windows and views out is extremely impressive,” noted one guest. Another shared, “I love how connected the building feels to the site—it feels like a natural part of the campus.”
Following a guided tour, guests heard from MGS Director Elliet Spring and event sponsor Shaw Contract, who supplied the building’s sustainable carpets. The presentation explored the design journey, the reuse of original stained-glass windows, and the deep engagement with the school community.
One attendee remarked, “The re-use of the original chapel stained-glass was particularly impressive. It was a joy to stand in that space.”
Thanks to Shaw Contract for supporting this memorable event, which wrapped up with relaxed networking drinks at the nearby Skinny Dog Hotel.
